As many local crews and past guests watched us work day in and day out last season everyone was keeping their fingers crossed that all the hard work would pay off... AND IT DID!! We were offered a job on a 58' Catana this past Monday and flew up to Annapolis on Friday to take the job. We represented our new yacht in the Tortola Boat Show before flying north and had excellent feedback from all the brokers-- we can't wait to get back down south and begin our season!

But where do you sleep??

One of the most commonly asked questions of guests on the boat (usually a few days into charter) is.. "but, where do you sleep?"

We enter our cabin from a hatch in the deck on the bow of the boat.

The mattress is twin size at the top. But narrows quick-- one reason we both have to stay so skinny!

Sasha hung a mirror and I hung a gear hammock so we can see what we look like and keep clothes in our cabin- much easier than sneaking into the master cabin each morning to change.

Charter Ready

Cleaned up and ready for our first charter!

Splash!

Splash time. Ian from Reaction was more than a little nervous about the lift being three inches away from his freshly painted boot stripe. These drivers know what they're doing.

It takes about a hour to get the boat in the sling because they have to touch up the bottom paint where the boat was resting, then make sure the previous boat has been able to start up and get out of the way. Such a process.

Yard work

My idea of hell would be sweeping up a boat yard. There are so many little bits of boat and scraps of parts.

Nothing is open for breakfast before 8 so Sasha finished up a few odd jobes before we ate.

Hello to another season!

Just getting back to the islands-- Stayed with Jay and Bern on the new "VIVO" formerly known as "Airbender" lastnight and had a chance to meet their new owners and boat. Both are beautiful!! Spent the bulk of today meeting with our manager and working in the yard until about 8:30p. We had to quit because our headlamps are low on batteries and we couldn't see enough to keep going :( It was nice to get the amazingly uncontrolable sweet going again. Missed that while we were up north with family and friends!! We splash the HYP tomorrow at 8am. All the last minute prep is done and she looks goooood. More pics to follow as we are playing with our new camera. (the pic up top is from Guadaloupe during our big summer sailing trip)

Indiana Visit

It's amazing how much you can do in a month! I made my wedding
rounds, snuck up to Chicago to visit friends, and spent every weekend
at the lake house skiing with my Dad as much as possible. When Sasha
came to town we went clay pigeon shooting, too! Back up in Anderson,
we helped my parents host a 5 course wine education dinner to help
raise money for the local Arts Foundation. It was a night to
remember!!
